SafeNet's Third Annual Poker Run will be held this Sunday, June 28th

SafeNet’s Third Annual Poker Run will be held this Sunday, June 28. Registration will begin at 9am at the SafeNet Center 1702 French Street, with coffee and donuts supplied by Tim Horton’s. The last vehicle/bike will be out by noon. This year’s stops include the Crazy Parrot Restaurant, Bootlegger’s, Cycle City, Chico Inn and the final stop will be the Sloppy Duck. Music will be provided by the Geek Army, voted 2008’s #1 cover band at the RockErie Awards, from 2pm -6pm.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three poker hands and everyone who participates will be eligible for the grand prize, a day sail for 2 on board the US Brig Niagara, Pennsylvania Official Flagship. Several players and cheerleaders from the Erie RiverRats will also be on hand to sign autographs, and Z-102 will also broadcast live. A pre-registration will be held at SafeNet Night at the Erie River Rats. Free tickets are available to those who wish to pre-register. Tullio Arena doors open at 6pm and the Erie River Rats will play the Florence Phantoms.

Cost for this year’s event is $15.00 per participant, $25.00 per couple and if someone wishes not to ride and would like to join us at the Sloppy Duck, the music will be free, but the food and a chance for the grand prize will cost $10.00. JR’s on The Bay will also offer drink specials that day.

This year’s sponsors include ESPN Radio, Z-102, Cycle City, Geek Army, JR's on the Bay, Cycle City, Schwebel’s The Crazy Parrot, A Total Tan, Southern Cruisers Riding Club, American Legion Riders, A.B.A.T.E of PA, Chico’s Inn, Sunflower Club, ErieBikers, Erie River Rats, US Brig Niagara, Smith’s and Bootleggers Bar and Grill.

SafeNet is not a homeless shelter, but a safe and confidential place specifically for men, women and children who are victims of domestic violence.  From every city and township in the area, victims come to SafeNet seeking support, safety and shelter from physical abuse and threats of violence occurring at home.  After more than 30 years of providing shelter and many other supportive services, SafeNet knows first-hand that there is hope and there is help. SafeNet is Pennsylvania's oldest continuous running domestic violence shelter.
