SafeNet calls on volunteers for its Sizzlin' Summer Celebration

SafeNet is currently looking for volunteers to help with its first annual SafeNet's Sizzlin' Summer Celebration. The event will be held on August 26, 2007, at St. Nick's Grove. Volunteers are needed for various shifts throughout the day beginning around 1:00 pm and ending at 10:00 pm. Some of the activities that volunteers will be helping with include serving food and beverages, assisting with the poker run, selling t-shirts and other merchandise, and clean-up. Those involved in the Celebration will also have a chance to participate in one of the many raffles and enjoy a live performance by the internationally known music group Tanglefoot. Tickets are currently on sale at Glass Growers Gallery, 10 East 5th Street and SafeNet Center, 1702 French Street or by calling SafeNet at 814-455-1774 extension 249.

SafeNet is not a homeless shelter, but a safe and confidential place specifically for men, women and children who are victims of domestic violence.  From every city and township in the area, victims come to SafeNet seeking shelter, safety and support from physical abuse and threats of violence occurring at home.  After more than 30 years of providing shelter and many other supportive services, SafeNet knows first-hand that there is hope and there is help. SafeNet is Pennsylvania's oldest continuous running domestic violence shelter.
